There seems to be some confusion over essential fatty acids, as in which ones are the best for you, omega 3 or omega 6. Let me show you which is best and how to find the best source.

The very best polyunsaturated fatty acids are omega 3′s which can be obtained from almonds, flaxseed and by far the best source of all, fish oil.

Omega 6 essential fatty acids on the other hand are too prevalent in our diets and most of us need to cut down to restore the 3 – 6 balance. Omega 6 comes from foods such as meat, poultry, and eggs as well as nut and plant-based oils such as canola and sunflower oil.

They are called essential because they must come from our diet as they cannot be manufactured by the body and the fact is that most of us, over 90%, are deficient in the most important essential fatty acids, the omega 3′s.
