Back Pain, avoidance and rehab

by Herb on 02/16/2012

www.scoobysworkshop.com In this video I’m going to cover how to prevent lower back injuries and what to do if you have the misfortune of having a lower back injury. The best way to handle back injuries is to prevent them from happening in the first place! Here is what YOU can do to prevent lower back injuries work your core (crunches, planks, supermans) stretch you hamstrings daily (helps lift properly) lift properly (quad strength) I was clearly doing the rehab exercises for real, I’m not a good enough actor to fake pain :) The reason I wanted to do this video while I was having back trouble was that all the videos out there illustrating these rehab exercises seem to have been done by people who have never had back pain. I wanted this to be real so people could relate.

@Dannnneh Sorry, no? idea. :( . You need to see a doctor.

yalg22 February 16, 2012 at 11:40 pm

@makohit I injured my wrist years ago from lifting too much weight. First stop lifting until the major pain goes away. like other guy said go to a doctor. After serious pain subsides try doing wrist curls with a barbell than has no weight on it. do the exercise slowly and stop if? it causes pain. This exercise rehabilitated my wrists in about 6 weeks.

DeadlyDre February 17, 2012 at 12:19 am

@makohit go see a neuromuscular therapist.? They can fix that

Kudos to you Scoobie, of all the things you could be doing with your free time, you decided to make videos and help so many people over the internet.

Thanks a lot! man, those videos (As for all your others videos) have helped me, but specially this one, since I’ve just got a back muscle spasm, and couldn’t even walk for a week. (Saw a doctor of? course) but your excercises really helped.

scottlarrock80 February 17, 2012 at 5:17 am

what do you think about hyperextentions? for the lower backmuscles?

eyeisyou February 17, 2012 at 5:27 am

@scooby1961 i love your logic!?

thebigbadmonkey February 17, 2012 at 6:23 am

I did almost all of these excercises and even after one round of doing em I feel a lot better. And for those not liking this video. Scooby fully points out that he is not a chiropractor, doctor or any kind of physical therapist. These are pretty much the general excercises you are told to do if you have a weak lower back. Anything else is to be consulted by a physician,? not doing so might only damage you in the long run. Stay safe people =)

jonutz001 February 17, 2012 at 6:45 am

hi scooby-good stuff-i was rear ended in a car accident and worked hard for 2 years to get back in a flow .. but every blue moon you are reminded you will always have back pain-like an old friend that comes to visit uninvited. happens. I wonder if you’re familiar with the McKenzie exercises. since you spoke of phys. rehab. these were given to me in illustrations-and are not as tough as the supermans-and may have even inspired? them. anyway, good stuff and be well.
