Green tea is quickly becoming one of the most popular beverages around the globe, because not only does it offer a delicious taste and versatility, but green tea benefits your well-being and health as well. The Chinese have long been using green tea for the health benefits that it offers for hundreds of years. Green tea is not a snake oil, but rather is backed by scientific research that is showing that the green tea benefits are real, legitimate and measurable.

Green tea contains catechin polyphenols like epigallocatechin gallate, which explains why green tea benefits the body in so many ways. You may better know epigallocatechin gallate as EGCG, a very powerful antioxidant that will help curb the growth of cancer cells within the body, also possibly killing off already existent cancer cells without attacking the body’s healthy tissues and cells. EGCG is also capable of preventing blood clots, which will curb the occurrence of heart attacks and strokes.

Green tea has also been shown to relieve pain that is associated with rheumatoid arthritis along with fighting infections, repairing the immune system, and even preventing cardiovascular disease. Green tea benefits are not limited to just one or two facets of the body, but rather it positively impacts your overall healthy and well being.

Another of the green tea benefits that are worth considering is that green tea has been linked to helping people lose weight, according to a study conducted by the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition and the University of Geneva. The conclusion of the study was that when men were given green tea as a staple in their diet, they lost more weight and burned more calories than those who did not incorporate green tea into their diet. Additionally, green tea has been linked to fighting tooth decay and promoting a healthy smile. Green tea is capable of destroying bacteria, killing off the bacteria that cause plaque and abscesses in your mouth.

The ECGC in green tea can also help to boost your metabolism, ridding your body of the free radicals that cause cancer and other harm to your body. Free radicals can damage your cells, leading to premature aging, the introduction of cancers and other damage to your body. The antioxidants found in green tea can contribute to feeling younger and healthier and can give you an overall improved sense of well being.

Green tea benefits the body in numerous ways and is inexpensive and tastes great. Green tea is often organically produced, meaning that it’s completely natural and cannot harm your body. Green tea has a taste that is naturally sweet, but balances well by an almost pleasant bitterness. It has a complex taste with plenty of depth, letting it appeal to people. Because anyone can afford green tea, and because it can be made fresh so easily, you can easily implement green tea into your daily life in order to get the many green tea benefits that your body needs.

There are millions of Americans that suffer from the pain of arthritis and related conditions all the time. The most important thing to know is that you are not alone in this suffering. Many times you may feel like you are the only one going through this disease, but there are others that feel the same way that you do. Arthritis can be a very hard problem to understand and many patients who suffer from arthritis will feel like they are alone and confused. However, with some help, you can meet and talk to others that are dealing with the same pain of arthritis conditions. Joining one of the many different arthritis support groups will help you feel better about your condition and give you a better outlook on life.

The Arthritis Foundation is one of the non-profit organizations that were formed for those that have arthritis. There are over 100 different conditions that are related to arthritis and this foundation has worked hard to meet those needs and concerns for people. This organization will help to give out information about arthritic conditions as well as work as an advocate for the patients that are dealing with arthritis. They will sponsor medical research for the condition and hope to find a cure for it one day. The Arthritis Foundation will join in with many other organizations and companies to bring patients the service that they need. Their website will help those that are suffering and the family members and friends that want to learn more about how they can help and donate money towards arthritis research. You can also join an online organization and benefit from their different member services.

When you are looking for something on a personal level, you need to first find a local arthritis group and talk to your doctor about it. Usually hospitals will sponsor these types of support groups and help people cope with different disease and pain. Arthritis is no different. A local group will usually meet with others that are dealing with arthritis and get feedback on how to cope in daily life. These community groups are going to be lifelong friends and you can learn to live better and be more optimistic. You can check your local newspapers if your doctor does not know where to find a support group. You can even start your own group! If no support group exists in your town, there may be a huge need for someone to head up this type of project.

A support group is an important way for children that are suffering from arthritis as well. Arthritis is a condition that is usually more common with age; many children will feel isolated because they have it at such a young age. The children’s wing of your local hospital may be able to help you find a support group. It makes no difference what age you are, you can get benefits from the community or support group when you have arthritis. You need to look online and talk to your doctor about more information on this subject.

You rely on your body to get get out of bed, to lift your
children, to perform your job and to take you places everyday. If
you appreciate what your body does for you, you will provide it
with nutritious food, hydrate with water and be sure to add some
activity into your day.

While our limbs provide mobility, reach and strength it is our
body core that provides the basis of each movement. Sedentary
lives can cause our body core muscles to weaken and become
subject to strain or injury. Even if you workout or participate
in sports you may not be working the body core muscles you rely
on to perform.

WHAT IS MY BODY ‘CORE’?

Your body core is the midsection of your body, from your groin to
your shoulders. The core includes the pelvis, abs, back and chest
muscles. It is this core that offers stability, balance and
flexibility. Every movement you make originates in the core -
whether you are reaching for your toothbrush or running a
marathon. If the core is not properly conditioned it will limit
your physical abilities.

Working the muscles in your body core will improve the
effectiveness of movements in your limbs. Most exercise routines
focus on building muscle. By creating a stable, strong base for
those muscles you can optimize the strength and flexibility of
each limb.

HOW DO I STRENGTHEN MY BODY CORE?

There are many exercise routines and products that work the
muscles of the body core. Professional trainers create customized
routines to enhance an athlete’s abilities by developing the
proper core muscles. However, there are also many programs
developed for individuals who wish to incorporate it into their
fitness routine or to begin one.

The exercises and products developed to strengthen your body core
do so by creating resistance or instability so that the core
muscles must respond to maintain balance. The exercises are
gentle on the body but are intense and beginners will quickly
‘feel’ the muscles being used. Proper alignment is key so having
a trainer to check your position will help identify the safest
and most effective way to perform an exercise.

Body core exercises often imitate moves that we employ in daily
life or sports and thus train the body to rely on the core and
reduce the strain we put on our limbs. Two popular forms of
exercise that develop core body strength are Pilates and the
Swiss ball.

Pilates uses the body as its own form of resistance. Learning to
breath properly and perform slow, controlled movements allows a
person to isolate and strengthen core muscles.

The Swiss ball (also known as a Fitness ball) is an easy and fun
way to strengthen the body core. While there are many exercises
that can be performed with the Swiss ball, simply sitting on it
will create the instability needed to engage the core muscles to
maintain balance.

Good core strength is important at every age and fitness level.
Whatever your goals, find a way to incorporate body core
conditioning into your routine to reduce fatigue, avoid muscle
strain and improve your strength and mobility.

Echinacea is a native herb of North America and was one of the most important herbs in the traditional medicine of the North American Indians. In the 19th century its use spread to the Western World, and is now one of the most popular herbal remedies used in Europe.
There are two main types of Echinacea, Echinacea angustifolia (coneflower) and Echinacea purpurea (purple coneflower), they are members of the aster/daisy family. It is a very popular garden plant due to its beautiful flower, but it is mainly the roots that are used in herbal medicine although the whole plant is used in some preparations.
The most important active principle is echinacoside, in addition the plant contains phenolics, volatile oil and a range of other principles. It’s the combination of all of these active principles that make Echinacea such a wonderful herb to use. This herb is thought to promote healing through its antiviral, antibiotic, anti-inflammatory, and detoxifying effects.
The traditional use of Echinacea was as a blood purifier and therefore it was classed as a cleansing herb. It was commonly used for skin complaints such as boils, eczema, acne, psoriasis and any eruptions of the skin, thereby utilizing it’s cleansing properties.
Recent research indicates that the herb has much greater effects than just as a cleanser, and that through maintaining the body’s natural barriers it helps prevent the spread of infection. When taking Echinacea the white cells (leukocytes)in the body are stimulated into action, these white cells are a vital part of the body’s defence mechanism, and when stimulated help to destroy any infections. When taken internally it has proved to be a useful herb for improving the body’s own resistance to infectious conditions, especially the common cold and influenza. Unfortunately this use has been misunderstood by the vast majority of people and it has been found that some will take this herb for months, sometimes years, to try to stop catching colds or flu. What should be remembered is that Echinacea stimulates the white blood cells and prolonged use can lead to over stimulation, and then when infection does strike the white cells can be ineffective. If Echinacea is to be used in the fight against colds and flu then it should be taken only after exposure to the the virus, and then taken for two to three weeks until the danger of contamination has gone. If a cold or flu develops unexpectedly then a small amount of Echinacea taken every couple of hours until it has gone, can be quite effective.
It must be noted that the use of Echinacea is far greater than just a ‘cure’ for the common cold, scientists working with a variety of viral diseases found a protein in the body that had marked anti-viral properties (interferon). Interferon is non-specific in it’s action and is produced to overcome viral, bacterial or protozoa infections of the body. Plants like Echinacea can be used to stimulate the body into producing more interferon, which in turn, will help the body fight these infections. Most low-grade, minor infections are caused by viruses and this means that antibiotics are of no value in such cases, it should also be remembered that antibiotics should always be used sparingly, and for severe bacterial infections only.
This very useful remedy can be used in conjunction with other herbs for infections anywhere in the body.
If combined with Bearberyy (Arctostaphylos uva-ursi) and Yarrow (Achillea millefolium) it can be effective in stopping cystitis.
For upper respiratory tract infections it works well if combined with the Chinese herb Astragalus (Astragalus membranaceus) which also increases the production of white blood cells.
Even though Echinacea is one of the most widely studied plants in herbal medicine a lot more research is required to get the complete picture of the healing properties of this wonderful herb.
Please note this report is for information only and should not be used in place of seeing a healthcare practitioner.

If you are on a diet how would you answer this question? Are you
fat because you’re hungry or are you hungry because you’re fat?
This appears to be a “which came first the chicken or the egg”
type question but surprisingly to most dieters the answer is
both. Why? It is simple really, if you are over weight you have
more body surface area that radiates heat and thus requires more
calories to fuel this heat.

Nutritionists agree that foods that satisfy your hunger the
fastest will help you to cut down on calories. They call this the
satiety value of food. Some foods are quick to satisfy hunger but
are short term in the digestive system and ultimately cause us to
eat more often. Foods that remain in our digestive process longer
have a higher satiety value.

Foods that have a high satiety value level include: meat, milk,
and fish. Examples of foods with a low satiety value level would
be eggs, green vegetables, and bread. An adequate combination of
the high and low satiety value level foods is your best defense
in curbing your appetite while on a diet.

The following five tips will help you achieve a balance of
satiety value food intake and help you curb your appetite.

1) Stop eating just short of receiving the full signal from your
brain or stomach. For reasons not totally understood people that
tend to put on weight easily have trouble recognizing the full
signal from their brain until they have way over eaten.

2) Develop socially entertaining mental habits. Often dieters
will become bored because they have few entertainment value
interests and will turn to eating to fulfill this boredom. Find
new hobbies or socialize with friends more to avoid this lack of
entertainment stimulus.

3) Eat foods that require vigorous chewing. Generally foods that
you must chew more before swallowing will stay in our digestive
process longer. Foods such as meat, crisp celery, and uncooked
carrots are great examples of these type of foods.

4) Do not drink too much water with meals. Drink only enough to
help you swallow chewed food. Drinking more water than necessary
will give you the notion you are full too soon and will be a
false signal. Water remains in our digestive process the shortest
of any other drink and will be quickly depleted from our system.

5) Cut down on your consumption of alcohol. Alcohol has a
tendency to trick our metabolism system into believing it needs
more food and sends us the hungry signal. In actual reality the
body does want food to help absorb the alcohol, but often this
signal is perceived as a false hungry signal instead.

These are but five quick and easy tips a dieter can follow to
help keep their appetite in check. This is by no means an
complete or exhaustive list of things one could do to curb their
appetite. Whole books have been written on this same subject and
cover this topic more in depth.
