Chinese Goat Herder who had noticed increased sexual activity in<br />
his herd of goats after they had eaten some weeds. As a result,<br />
men all over the world now use those weeds as an aphrodisiac and<br />
as a herbal treatment for physical impotence.</p>
<p>Actually the Horny Goat herb is called <strong>Epimedium</strong>, although it is<br />
also known as <strong>Barrenwort</strong>, <strong>Bishops Hat</strong> and <strong>Yin Yang Huo</strong>. Like so<br />
many herbal treatments, Horny Goat Weed has been used in Chinese<br />
Medicine for centuries.<span id="more-23"></span></p>
<p>What makes this herb stand out from others used to treat<br />
impotence is that there have been clinical studies conducted in<br />
the United States on the immediate and long term effects of Horny<br />
Goat Weed as an aphrodisiac. For example, in 2000 Dr. Stephen<br />
Lamm conducted testing on 38 men aged between 25 and 66 years of<br />
age.</p>
<p>The men were split up into two groups &#8211; healthy males that had no<br />
history of impotence and Viagra males that were only able to have<br />
sex after taking Viagra. Participants were given either Horny<br />
Goat Weed in a mixture with a couple of other herbs, or a<br />
placebo, with the treatments being taken daily and also within<br />
two hours of sexual activity. The trial lasted for 60 days.</p>
<p>Results from this study show that:</p>
<p>1. 65% of the healthy males reported an increase in sexual<br />
performance and satisfaction.</p>
<p>2. 46% of the men who used viagra regularly noted increased<br />
satisfaction with sexual performance.</p>
<p>3. 31% of the latter also noticed an increase in the number of<br />
times they had sex.</p>
<p>4. Those who used viagra regularly also reported a definite<br />
increase in the length of time an erection was achieved and/or<br />
sustained.</p>
<p>5. There was no evidence of any side effects on any of the<br />
participants over the 60-day trial.</p>
<p>Other research indicates that Horny Goat Weed also increases<br />
testosterone production in older males. Needless to say, there<br />
are many reports that the herb produces feelings of well being<br />
and increases in sexual desire in male users.</p>
<p>It is now clear that <em>Horny Goat Weed works by increasing the<br />
levels of nitric oxide in the body, which in turn increases the<br />
blood flow around and through the penis,</em> resulting in an<br />
erection. There are also indications that the herb impacts on<br />
hormones and the thyroid gland.</p>
<p>The search for men&#8217;s &#8220;Holy Grail&#8221; &#8211; a harmless, natural aid for<br />
sexual performance when in need &#8211; is making progress by<br />
rediscovering what has been common wisdom for centuries in some<br />
communities. Now, it seems, science is starting to provide the<br />
extra validity this herb requires for more general acceptance.</p>
<p>Studies have shown that even those males without a history of<br />
impotence perceived an improvement in their sexual performance<br />
and satisfaction while taking this herb. Some researchers have<br />
likened Horny Goat Weed to Viagra, without as many side effects.<br />
Luckily, in this instance, nature holds the patent.</p>

<p>Stress is a fact of life and a certain amount of stress, unlike<br />
the common cold, can even be good for you &#8211; but too many<br />
stressful incidents can prevent you from reaching your full<br />
potential.</p>
<p>There is no magic wand to wave away stress &#8211; it takes a<br />
determined effort to control your lifestyle to prevent stress<br />
overload. However, the basics of alleviating stress are easy to<br />
arrange and practice &#8211; it&#8217;s not rocket science &#8211; it just takes<br />
time and more than a little effort.</p>
<p>First, plan ahead &#8211; be organized and prepared. There are<br />
close-at-hand weapons available to you in your battle against<br />
stress &#8211; a pencil and a piece of note paper.<span id="more-18"></span> </p>
<p>Many times stress is energized because we allow a tidal wave of<br />
different and conflicting thoughts to flood our mind making us<br />
believe the assignments ahead are too overpowering.</p>
<p>Prepare for tomorrow the night before.</p>
<p>Take the time to sit down with a pencil and paper and list all<br />
the assignments you feel are important to complete the next day.<br />
When all the tomorrow tasks are listed, redo and list each item<br />
in order of importance. Finally, mark the time you think it would<br />
take to complete each task &#8211; review the total time and when you<br />
reach the time limit you feel comfortable with, draw a line<br />
across the page &#8211; that&#8217;s tomorrow&#8217;s schedule.</p>
<p>One other important item when completing the final schedule -<br />
it&#8217;s vital that your allow time for relaxing,exercising and to<br />
eat a healthy meal &#8211; three more important weapons in alleviating<br />
stress.</p>

<p>Something positive &#8211; great advice &#8211; but again, not easy.<br />
Maintaining a positive attitude also takes a great deal of work<br />
and commitment, but by following two basic fundamentals of<br />
positive thinking,you can detour your life into a new affirmative<br />
direction that will lower the stress level no matter what the<br />
situation and, as a bonus,make you a happier, more contented<br />
individual.</p>
<p>First and foremost &#8211; stop all the negative talk. Start today -<br />
every time you utter a negative thought, repeat what you said and<br />
change the negative into a positive. Make a game of it. Tell<br />
those you trust how you are trying to change your lifestyle and<br />
have them yell out &#8220;negative&#8221; every time you utter a negative<br />
thought. If they catch you on such a miscue &#8211; you have to give<br />
them a dime or some such reward.</p>
<p>Repetition is the key to changing negative thoughts into positive<br />
thoughts. Come up with your own personal mantra you can silently<br />
repeat to yourself to constantly remind you of your new positive,<br />
less stressful lifestyle &#8211; the word &#8220;POSITIVE&#8221; is a good one to<br />
start with.</p>
<p>Secondly,stay away from those who view life pessimistically.<br />
Those who are unenthusiastic about life can drag you down faster<br />
than a freighter&#8217;s anchor &#8211; join the people who make you happy -<br />
better yet &#8211; be around people who you can talk to about your<br />
feelings.</p>
<p>One more basic fundamental &#8211; find the humor in it &#8211; take time to<br />
laugh loud and often &#8211; it&#8217;s the best medicine for alleviating<br />
stress.</p>

craving chocolate try these tips to help reach your<br />
diabetes or weight control goals.</p>
<p>1. Try fresh fruit for morning snacks, dessert after lunch<br />
and with supper.  Be sure to choose fruit in season for<br />
best taste. Frozen is the next best when fresh is not<br />
available. Fruit is very helpful in weight loss because it<br />
has a high water content, and average of 2 grams of fiber<br />
per serving, and low calories.</p>
<p>2. Dried fruits are a great source of fiber also but add up<br />
quicker in the calories. For example 12-15 grapes =2 Tbsp<br />
raisins. So you can grab a handful of grapes for fewer than<br />
100 calories but a handful of raisins will be twice the<br />
calories.<span id="more-6"></span></p>
<p>3. Fruits are also great source of potassium, which helps<br />
lower blood pressure.</p>
<p>4. For sweets cravings plan a sweet in for an afternoon or<br />
evening snack daily if needed. This is better than<br />
depriving yourself and eventually overeating that food.</p>
<p>5. We all have our foods that we simply have no power over<br />
portion control. Mine is French silk chocolate ice cream.<br />
I have found it works better to buy it only 2-3 times a<br />
year and not worry about my overeating for the short time<br />
it takes me to finish it off!</p>
<p>6. For the chocolate craving try dark chocolate. It seems<br />
to satisfy the craving with a smaller amount.</p>
<p>7. If you are on-the-go you can also set a rule in your<br />
house that any sweets need to be homemade. When you have<br />
less time you are less likely to have made something sweet,<br />
but when you do at least you will really enjoy it and<br />
appreciate the taste more! You will also be getting less<br />
preservatives and additives with homemade sweets.</p>
<p>8. For many people ice cream is a favorite bedtime snack.<br />
An average bowl of ice cream with 3 scoops will be at least<br />
400 calories. You could use a cake cone instead and reduce<br />
the calories in half. Some find it easier to just go out<br />
once or twice a week for an ice cream treat instead of<br />
having it in the house for easy access.</p>
<p>9. Donuts will cost you about 200-300 calories each. If<br />
your office likes to have donuts around, suggest some<br />
alternatives such as fruit, bran muffins, small whole grain<br />
bagels, yogurt &amp; granola, or any other healthier<br />
alternative.</p>
<p>10. Sugar-free foods may not be a better option but they<br />
are okay in limited amounts. Usually they are made with an<br />
artificial sweetener or sugar alcohol. Sugar-free foods are<br />
not always lower in calories and may not satisfy the sweet<br />
craving. This really has to be a personal choice. I<br />
recommend using artificial sweeteners in limited amounts<br />
even though they are FDA approved to be safe.</p>
<p>11. Using regular sugar, honey, jelly or syrup is okay -<br />
especially when they are homemade. A teaspoon averages only<br />
20 calories and remember &#8211; people do not get diabetes from<br />
eating sugar unless they are eating so much that they gain<br />
weight.</p>
<p>12. Portion control on the sweets is very important. Here<br />
are some comparisons on calories.  Examples of a 100<br />
calorie serving of candy would be a snack size candy bar, 4<br />
chocolate kisses, or 4 Smarties rolls.</p>
<p>13. Beware! Pie is usually quite high calorie. The lowest<br />
calorie pies are pumpkin and strawberry at about 250<br />
calories per slice and one of the highest is pecan pie at<br />
450 calories per slice.</p>
